We are ready to begin!! Setting the addition on the parking lot side of the Church and using the general contractor bidding process was a winning combination. We are negotiating with the lowest bidder and hope to have a contract signed soon. We anticipate breaking ground early this spring and completing the project in the fall. Although this newest bid is lower than any of the first round of bids, the cost of the project is still higher than the initial estimate. The higher project cost will necessitate using capital campaign funds and a considerable amount of parish reserves. We strongly believe that the depletion of Parish reserves would put St. Denis in a very precarious position without resources to pay for unexpected occurrences. In the past few years using our reserves, the Parish has been able to pay for painting the interior of the church, refurbishing the eaves troughs, refinishing the wooden doors, reupholstering the kneelers, and replacing the organ. In addition, our reserves contributed significantly to the capital expenditure for a new parking lot. Also, the interest earned on the savings provided supplemental funds for parish ministry. These things were done without any appeals to the parish community through special collections. Because of the generosity and commitment of so many to St. Denis, we are one of the stronger, financially and spiritually, parishes in the Diocese of Worcester. To maintain that position we believe that we need to raise an additional $150,000.00 for our capital campaign, “Remembering the Past, Preparing for our Future.” We ask that you prayerfully consider joining with us and so many others of our parish in supporting this worthwhile endeavor. Your help is needed and will be greatly appreciated.May God bless us and our campaign as we continue in the spiritual and physical growth of our parish community. May we all see that in sharing generously we grow as persons and receive God's blessing and in sacrificing we become richer and grow deeper in God's love. Respectfully yours in Christ, Reverend William N. Cormier
